UoL is one of the largest HEIs in Poland. Founded in 1945 it currently employs over 2500 teaching staff (inc. over 1200 Ph.D.). Research and teaching is carried out at 12 Faculties and inter-faculty, interdisciplinary research institutes. International Cooperation has a high priority at UOL, which has collaborated with 91 HEIs in 26 countries.

The Faculty of Management (FoM) is one of the largest business schools in Central Europe offering a wide range of courses at bachelor, master, doctoral level and MBA studies (currently 6500 students take part in all forms of education). The Faculty is one of the youngest of the University of Lodz. It came into being on September 1st, 1994. Nearly 200 academics, carry out research in management related sciences in cooperation with international partners, according to best regional and international practice. In addition, the Faculty of Management is the leading scientific and didactic centre in the region of Lodz, specialising in management-related sciences.

Though the Faculty of Management is a fairly young business school, there has been significant growth in intellectual potential since it was established. The Faculty started with 89 academic teachers and that has expanded to nearly 200 members of staff and the growing number of students is further evidence of this development. Student numbers have doubled, although the majority of students are of Polish origin, there has been a considerable growth in the number of international students – one of the strategic objectives of the Faculty is to become a genuine melting pot of business students from throughout the globe.
